How do you hold a guard or a tool in a fixture with zip ties?
Zip ties are great at holding a thing in a position while you work on something else. There is exactly one place they must never go, and it's the trigger.

Why it matters
A tie holds something still for as long as you need it, then comes off with a snip. For temporary fixturing that's exactly right.
The danger is that it also holds a switch still, and a lot of the "hacks" floating around do exactly that. A tool that can't be released by letting go is a tool that keeps running while it's dragging you somewhere.
What good looks like
- The lashed part can't rotate, slide or lift under working load
- Nothing anywhere near a trigger, switch or interlock
- The ties are checked before each use — nylon creeps
How to apply it
- Position the part exactly where it needs to sit.
- Use at least two ties, placed so the part can't rotate about either one.
- Cinch tight and check by hand that nothing moves.
- Trim tails flush and re-check the ties before each session.
Exceptions & tradeoffs
Nylon creeps under sustained load, especially warm. For anything permanent, use a clamp, a bracket, or a fastener.
Ties are also a poor choice next to hot or moving parts — they melt, and then the part is loose with no warning.
